U.S. MILITARY CUTS WITH GREATER RISK

With the U.S. budget and financial issues being as dismal as they are, the Pentagon is preparing to cut billions of dollars from its budget, reducing military spending, forces and weapons program.   The cuts, according to NBC will put American military forces to its lowest level  prior to World War II.

The budget cuts will come at a price according to U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel:  “As a consequence of large budget cuts, our future force will assume additional risk in certain areas,” Hagel said, citing gaps in training and maintenance and a smaller force that would be stretched thin if major conflicts broke out in several places at once.

I thought we were already stretched pretty thin.   Talk about a nation that sacrifices for the well-being of other nations.  We give up so much that our own security is of greater risk.  This can only place greater pressure on the forces we keep in place.  This is how we show support of our men and women who sacrifice enough as is.   Military cuts will include loss of quantity and quality of protective equipment and weapons.

Lets cut to the chase, we can look directly at the money this nation gives away around the world and to benefit who?   I know the argument about treaties, promises, humanitarian causes, all of it  Our number one priority should be the security of this nation and it isn’t.

We may be pulling troops out of Afghanistan, but how long will it be before we are considering redeploying them, does Iraq come to mind?  With all the violence, bombing…..wars currently going on around the world, more widespread than anytime in my lifetime (I am 62) we are cutting our military?   This is the greatest brain-dead decision our government could make.   You can include all that is happening at the border here as well, our border, I’m not talking about Israel now.   We don’t know what all is crossing over.   I can here all naive Obamaites now…… the you’re nuts crowd.  The same ones that believed Obama was the answer of hope.  He has been hope not.

Seriously, common sense here, would you run your personal budget this way; give so much to others, that you put yourself in a financial position where you can not take care of your basic needs?  No, you wouldn’t, most of us wouldn’t.  Without securing and keeping our nation safe, nothing else will matter.

I am not saying we must withdraw foreign aid completely.    If we can even consider cutting our own budget, we must cut foreign aid from that budget, obviously more than we are or will.   Some nations we give support, do not deserve it, most hate us anyway.

Our military protects or freedom, and our freedom allows us all that we have and need.  Our military need our greatest support.   We can not compromise our men and women that serve our nation.

I THOUGHT ISRAEL WOULD STOP THE DESTRUCTION OF GAZA IF HAMAS PUT AN END TO THEIR BOMBING.   NOW I AM NOT SO SURE.

I REALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND OTHER THAN IT IS A WAY OF LIFE, ONE SIDE WILL NOT BE SATISFIED UNTIL THE OTHER NO LONGER EXISTS.  IN BETWEEN PERIODS OF PEACE ONLY FOR REGROUPING.   THE HATE IS SO DEEP, WILL HAMAS NOT STOP TILL THEY AND ALL PALESTINIANS ARE DESTROYED ?

WILL ISRAEL CONTINUE EVEN IF HAMAS ENDS THEIR BOMBING?  THIS ATTITUDE BELOW INDICATES THEY WILL.

Searching for Palestinian and Israel Understanding

Late Monday night July 28, 2014

I solemnly write tonight after a day of contemplation over the Israeli and Palestinian war; what else can you call it?   Innocent lives are lost, on both sides, many of which are children.  This is nothing new, civilians die in wars.

I have read the tweets from those living in Gaza this evening, while bombs were dropping around them.   I tweeted one 16-year-old girl wondering, as she stated, if she would live through the evening.   Now I certainly have no way of knowing if she was in the middle of the bombings, but I have no reason not to believe her; it’s certainly possible.  I am also quite aware that people, any people can use social media for sympathy and twist the truth of what is happening.   I also read tweets of Israeli’s, while they wanted it to end, their tone was not as heavy, possibly because they weren’t being hammered like Gaza.   Here is what I do know, if Hamas continues to  fires missiles at Israel, Gaza is going to continue to get hammered by the Israeli’s.

I have been doing a lot of research, trying to get a better understanding why Israel and the Palestinians remain enemies, so content it seems to destroy the other.   It is no secret they hate one another.   That may be a greater understatement than anything Obama has shared during his presidency, particularly the 2nd term.

I am not a university professor, I truthfully only knew the basics about the Israel vs. Palestinian history.   I have learned a lot in a short period.    I can not tell you all the references I have hit for information.  I selected resources I felt would be most unbiased with accurate facts.   I did not seek authors giving their opinion.

What I have learned is the Jews returned to the region they currently occupy beginning in 1917 with the heaviest flow around 1947.   The Arabs became more interested in settling in only after the Jewish people improved the agriculture and further developed the territory.    That’s when things went bad, but then the history between the two has always been bad.

There is much history, the U.N. dividing the land basically because the two people’s or I should say religions could not live together as one.  Then the Six Day War…….. and today’s war, along with everything in between.   It’s not as simple as that, but I am not the one to give a history lesson here.  Here is an opinion, why there will always be war between Israeli’s and Palestinians.

Palestinian’s, Hamas have made it clear over what seems to be generations and lifetimes they will not be content until all the Jews are dead.  The hate runs too deep for too long for attitudes to change. The children are taught to hate Jews.   I believe Israel initiates military offenses because they understand this, they are defending their future.

It is difficult seeing children hurt and killed because of the actions of their elders on both sides.   I believe this is more about religion than it is occupation of land.  If there was not an ocean between us, the U.S. would be right in the middle with Israel.   We are the Great Satan to the Muslim world……we will continue to be targets as well.

Attitudes that have been present since what seems the beginning of time, will never change.  That is a sad thought, history repeats itself.  I am searching for more understanding.

 

 

 

 

 

WORLD CHAOS……WHERE ARE WE HEADED?

Is there anywhere on the this planet with peace tonight?    It’s not right to always use a search engine for an answer when you try to think for yourself and motivate others to do the same (no sarcasm intended).   If you must to find the answer to this question…….then the answer is probably no.   If there is such a piece of geography it is cold and isolated………totally isolated.

When I speak of peace, I don’t mean just from war; I mean without violent or angry protest, violent crime……discontent.  Where humans reside and interact, we have ………….all of that.   There seems an angrier tone and it is spreading.

I’m nearly 62-years-old, I don’t ever recall in my life as much hate and anger throughout the world, this includes America, especially America.   We may be the most hated people on God’s creation, and with Obama’s blueprint we are becoming a divided nation.   The division is there, but is getting worse and the same can be said around the globe.

I am not a sociologist……but the trend and direction it is all heading is frightening.   Something has to give, something is going to snap.   Are we already in the middle of world war?   How does that Pioneer of Hope look now to you?   How could one individual have such an effect on the world,  while doing nothing?  Something to think about.

MIDDLE EAST VIOLENCE, NOW AND FOREVER

Does anyone really believe that there will ever be peace in the Middle East?  It has been a violent region since early biblical times, it always has been, it always will be.   In my opinion, real peace is a hopeless dream.

Wars, terrorist activity, often over religious difference; and so many other reasons for the hate and fighting are too numerous to mention.  You name it, someone is killed over it.  They have been fighting for so long, it’s in their genes.  Children are taught to hate, to especially hate Israel and Americans.   They are committed to destroy us.

The moment troops left Iraq, the door was reopened for militants to have their way.  While our troops were there, Iraq was not at peace, just not as violent.  When our men and women left, so went civil order.  What did we think would happen?   Oh, we gave them some weapons, some training………..but you can’t teach will.

American lives were lost, many lives damaged……..physically and mentally, and now for what?  My son was in Iraq for nearly a year as an Army Staff Sgt., I can’t imagine how  he feels now.  I don’t have the answer, but there does need to be a military presence to keep the violence to a minimum.    It just can’t always be the United States.  How long do we sacrifice our military men and women in a hopeless land and for people who have no gratitude, only hate? You pray for the children, that attitudes can change……praying just for hope.  Peace is another thing.

Was it all in vain?   I pray that it wasn’t, if only for the sake of our men and women who sacrificed for the freedom of others.
